When did u BC?
I did my BC on March 22, 2009
How long did u transition for?
Not very long...I been weaves, braids, wigs for the past 3 years and decided that I wasn’t going to relax my hair any longer. My hair was shoulder length before I did my BC but my relaxed ends were so damaged there really was no way to repair them so I just decided to cut it all off and start over.
What products did you use while transitioning?
I used unrefined African Shea butter, tons of water and vegetable glycerine mixed with essential oils such as tea tree, rosemary, lemongrass, lavender, and peppermint. I used a lot of “home” products such as extra virgin olive oil, baking soda, honey, and mayonnaise.
What products do you use now that you are natural?
Pretty much the same products I used while transitioning. I also use Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Repair Crème, Soft Sheen Carson Green Tea Shea Butter, and IC Fantasia Gel.
Do you ever think that you will relax your hair again?
Never! Although being natural can be challenging at times, my hair has never been healthier.
What was the hardest thing about your transition?
The hardest part was trying to maintain the two textures (relaxed & natural). So in the end for me it was better to do the BC and have just one texture which is 100% natural.
What is the one thing you love about being natural?
The one thing I love being about being natural is the feeling of knowing I have NO chemicals in my hair and my hair is healthy.
